Marijo Rymer

Executive Director

Marijo Rymer has served as Executive Director of The Arc of Colorado since 2007. She previously served in Colorado executive roles at The Mental Health Center of Denver and American Medical Response. Marijo has more than 25 years of leadership experience in public policy advocacy ranging from healthcare to education to local government.

She currently serves as a member of the Colorado Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Commission, JFK Partners Advisory Board, RMHS Mill Levy Advisory Committee, , Colorado Non- Profit Association, Public Policy Committee, and the Colorado Fiscal Reform Round-table. She also serves on the CO HCPF Steering Committee for the Medicaid Infrastructure Grant and on the Benefits and Services Work Group for the HCPF Money Follows the Person grant writing committee.

Ms. Rymer was elected to the National Council of Executives of The Arc Board of Directors in 2009. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and has completed graduate work in Public Administration at the University of New Mexico.



Christiano Sosa

Incoming Executive Director

The Arc of Colorado is pleased to announce that Christiano Sosa has been named the Executive Director effective September 1, 2017. The current Executive Director, Marijo Rymer, will retire after ten years of service to the organization in November.

Mr. Sosa is currently the Director of Capacity Building & Philanthropic Partnerships at The Denver Foundation, a position he has held for ten years. Prior to that, he was Executive Director at the Northern Colorado AIDS Project in Ft. Collins where he engaged extensively in public policy advocacy for men, women, and children living with HIV. Since 1996, he has steadily ascended to numerous leadership positions at the local and national level.

Christiano is a Colorado Trust Fellow and former Commissioner for the Denver Office of Strategic Partnerships. He has taught courses in "Wealth and Philanthropy" and "Resource Development" in the Masters of Nonprofit Management Program at Regis University.

Christiano is the co-founder of the Colorado HIV/AIDS Community Partnership that led to the merger of four of the five largest AIDS Projects in the state. He currently serves as President of the Board of Directors for Mi Casa Resource Center, advancing the economic success of Latino families in Denver.



Heidi Haines

Director of Special Projects

Heidi Haines has been with The Arc of Colorado since 2012. Heidi works as as the Director of Special Projects and also serves as an advisor to the People First chapter in Denver as well as to SABE, the National self advocacy organization for people with developmental disabilities. Heidi has long demonstrated a passion for disability rights, an understanding of the critical issues and the desire to collaborate with a wide range of advocacy and community groups in the state of Colorado and nationwide. In 2013 Heidi was admitted membership to The National Conference of Executives of The Arc (NCE). 



Abigail Negley

Administrative Assistant

Abigail Negley is our newest staff member. She is the Administrative Assistant for the Arc of Colorado. She has been volunteering with the Arc for the past seven years and has developed a passion for helping those with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and their families. She is currently pursuing an undergraduate degree at the University of Denver and hopes to become a Civil Rights Attorney, representing the interests of myriad marginalized communities.
